SECOND CALL FOR ABSTRACTS AND POSTERS

The Seventh Symposium on Agricultural Sciences 2005

Theme of Symposium:
"On the Improvement of the National Agriculture Condition and 
Production�h

Introduction:
The Seventh Symposium on Agricultural Sciences (SAS 2005) is 
organized by the Indonesian Agricultural Sciences Association (IASA) 
Japan Chapter. This symposium is one of the important events where 
scientists and researchers on the field of agriculture present their 
research findings, exchange ideas, and brainstorm in order to 
produce ideas for better agricultural strategies to support 
Indonesian national development.
    Several symposia have been held at The Republic of Indonesia 
School in Tokyo (1997 and 1998); Tokyo University of Agriculture and 
Technology (1999); Chiba University (2000); The University of Tokyo 
(2001); and Tsukuba University (2002) by scientists and researchers 
in order to produce ideas for better agricultural strategies to 
support Indonesia�fs national development.

Objectives:
The aims of the 7th Symposium are :
1. To provide a rendezvous point for agriculture students mainly, 
and those related or interested with Indonesian agriculture and its 
development.
2. To ignite and to encourage discussions and information / 
knowledge exchange among the participants from different 
backgrounds, to grope for possibilities and probable solutions to 
currently ongoing problems in Indonesian agriculture.
3. To provide a place for camaraderie, where solid, close, and warm 
relationships are expected to form. From such relationships, 
hopefully, a solid networking will occur, hence beneficial for 
future cooperation.
4. To convey, or to share, to the participants the ongoing condition 
of Indonesian agriculture, seen from various standpoints.
5. To ignite and encourage the formation of networks and harmonious 
partnerships among the researchers, students, and other participants 
hence the realisation of the inter-academic integrative effort of 
problem solutions.
6. To first fathom the current condition of Indonesian agriculture, 
and to later brainstorm, as an effort of searching for a 
contributable yet sound proposals of solutions, and ultimately to 
propose the solutions, workable and applicable, for the betterment 
of Indonesian agriculture.

Time and Venue:
Date    : Saturday, March 26th, 2005
Place   : Media Hall of 4th floor at First Building of Tokyo 
University of Agriculture, 1-1-1 Sakuragaoka, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo 156-
8502, Japan.

Participants and the Areas of Interest:
It is expected that Indonesian students currently studying 
agriculture or related fields will comprise a significant part of 
the whole main participants of the Symposium. Besides them, the 
Symposium greatly welcomes participations from Indonesian and 
Japanese individuals and organisations whose works, interest, and 
concerns are related to Indonesian agriculture directly and 
indirectly. These might include participation from the members of 
Indonesian and Japanese scientific communities, both Indonesian and 
Japanese press, relevant Indonesian and Japanese organisations, both 
governmental and non-governmental.
In accordance to the background, purpose, and objectives of the SAS 
2005, below are written the fields of research or study greatly 
related to agriculture, its development, and hence, the main 
interest of IASA and the Symposium.

Language:
English will be the official language used throughout the symposium.

Deadlines of call for Abstract and Posters:
1. Deadline for Abstract submission (including abstract of poster): 
January 30th, 2005
2. Original Posters submission: March 26th, 2005 
(It is expected the posters handed in to the Symposium organizers 
due to 8 a.m.)

For participants wishing to submit a full paper in the Indonesian 
Journal of Agricultural Sciences (IJAS), the manuscripts should be 
submitted to IASA Japan Chapter or its editor in chief of IJAS, Dr.

Fee        : \ 1,000 (including lunch)
Payment    : Receptionist of SAS 2005 (before the Symposium begin)

Guide to Authors
Abstract:
1. It should be written in English. Please use 12 pt Times New Roman 
font, left/right margins 2.5 cm on letter-sized paper (left 
justification).
2. Type title in bold. Leave a blank line.
3. Type name(s) of the author(s). Place an underline(_) on the name 
of the person presenting the paper. Use superscript numbers to 
indicate affiliation(s). Leave a blank line.
4. Following the appropriate superscript, type author(s) address
(es). Include company/institution, city, province/state, postal zip 
code and country. Include the E-mail address of the corresponding 
authors as the line. Leave another blank line.
5. Type text, single spaced in one paragraph. An informative 
abstract should contain a short description of your work with all 
the elements to define your aims and the results to readers. An 
abstract should contain the following key points (maximum 5 
keywords). Abstract should be no more than 250 words. Please try to 
have it reviewed by a colleague before submission.
6. Save in Microsoft Word format if possible. Use your last name and 
initial as the file name (e.g. Romadhon_ysf.doc).
7. Submitted manuscripts will be subjected to peer review ensuring 
the highest possible scientific quality.

Poster:
1. The size of the poster should not exceed 70 cm x 100 cm.
2. Display boards and fixing materials will be provided.
