What file they were refereing in that incorrect note?

SQLMap.config or SQLMap.xml?

Is it possible to change the "number of fields" in to the SQLMap.xml
and then re-run the app (web app in my case) and then it can show only
the stuff that I changed in the SQLMap.xml (in my example the Select
statement) ?
