Displayed very prominently on the  main lobby floor of the Museum of Science 
in Boston, Mass. is an extremely large  "computer" made entirely out of wooden 
Tinkertoy� components and, according to the plaque attached thereto, it  even 
"worked" at one time.  I am not making this up.  Been there, seen  that.  
Several times.
 

May I suggest an 8-year-old be  given a Tinkertoy�  set and told "Here is 
your computer"?
 
May I also suggest an end to this  thread even though we have not yet dredged 
up memories of IBM 650s in  the 1950s?
