Perhaps IBM is really wanting to push WSED (WebSphere Studio Enterprise
Developer)? I don't know much about it, but it appears to be some sort
of Microsoft Windows based GUI development that interfaces with some
WebSphere thingie on z/OS. This may explain the demise of the ISPF GUI.
I don't know much about WebSphere Developer either, but from what I read at
the following web site:
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/awdtools/devzseries/
It sounds as though the product is geared towards helping programmers
(including traditional mainframe/COBOL programmers) develop web based or web
integrated applications. In other words, it doesn't sound as though it's
some sort of 'general' replacement for everyday mainframe development.
