Yi Ming, HDS Shadowimage has a Consistency Group function that allows you to get point-in-time, multivolume consistency across multiple 9900V and USP. It uses the DFP timestamps that are generated for XRC in the same way as Nanocopy (well spotted). It means you can include other DB, journals and files that do 2-phase-commit processing with DB2 and have a real (as opposed to fuzzy) point in time backup across a whole application.
While IBM is using the Hitachi's Nanocopy technology, I have not read that they are using it for multi-controller flashcopy. I'm happy to be corrected, but I think you still have to do a log suspend (quiesce) for multiple ESS/DS8K Flashcopy, and in that case related file systems cannot participate in the point in time. I think Flashcopy Consistency Group is limited to a single controller boundary.
