This appears to be an update to the ABCs of z/OS System Programming
Volume 9 from December 2003. I wonder why IBM dropped the "z/OS"
in the name. Confusing... I thought this was perhaps an addition to
the older OS/390 series of ABCs at first (although that made no
sense to me).
Maybe they try to drive home the fact that z/OS is the only supported
operating system for zSeries today - no version of OS/390 is still in
service.
Mark perhaps should have written:
"I wonder why IBM dropped the "z/OS" _from_ the name"
His message was that z/OS was there before but
is not there now. So that would not exactly
drive home the fact that z/OS is the only
supported version.
Maybe they're starting to make titles generic
in anticipation of the next operating system
name change. !!
