I would think that zSeries HMC's using linux would be out soon.
They are already using them for pSeries. Does iSeries have HMC's?.
Even though it's not an HMC the latest 2105 control console is also
Linux based.
I thought that the Intergrated Console Controller (ICC) on the OSA were
to replace the 2074's. The down side to the ICC is that if you have
more than one CEC, you need more than one OSA. Where as a 2074 with a
ESCON director can handle a few CEC's.
Umm. Does anybody know if you have a z990 and you have more that one
LCSS do you need a OSA with ICC for each LCSS? That is assuming you
want a NIP console on each LCSS.
I know that OS/2 still lives in the MOSS/E and APPN nodes for the
3745-xxA and 3746-900's, HCD's and Sysplex Timers. That is in addition
to 2074 and current HMC's. I'm not sure about other places.

Can we hope that this will give a "kick-along" to the long rumoured
replacement of OS/2 by Linux on the HMC ???.
Mmmm ..... then of course there is also the 2074.
One assumes there isn't much hope for the Multiprise.
Shane ...
But just barely. The announcement was about withdrawal of standard
support effective 2006-12-31.
