I know that OS/2 still lives in the MOSS/E and APPN nodes for the
3745-xxA and 3746-900's, HCD's and Sysplex Timers. That is in addition
to 2074 and current HMC's. I'm not sure about other places.
There is also OS/2 in 3494 tape library (Library Manager is PC with OS/2).
So, OS/2 resides in the following mainframe equipment:
- HMC
- SE
- 3494 LM
- 9037 sysplex timer
- 9032 Escon Director console
- teleprocessors (I didn't know).
I saw the presentation about new (planned) HMC - they claim it will be
Linux based PC. I have nothing against Linux or OS/2 or whatever system,
but I saw and sometimes use Linux based PC for ESS Shark. Wrong way!
Extremely unfriendly, slow, inconvenient.
From the other hand I consider HDS SVP notebooks running under Windows
95 or even 3.1 as quite useful and convenient.
