There is an insurance company in Melbourne with a rather famous DB2
Nightmare that was finally moved off to a UNIX server (where it finally
performed) and hidden in a locked cupboard. The initials NM may bring back
memories for some...

There have been quite a few successful migrations from MVS to Solaris and
HP-UX here in Asia. In SE Asia some large Telcos, an Airline and a Power
Company spring to mind.

I know a few companies that have put new MF consolidation on hold because
their next upgrade was going to cost many millions of bucks in software
licensing. There are countless stories on both sides of the fence.
