This means the end of the Sysplex Timers but does not mean the removal of
the restriction in the distance between the CPC's, although now it will be
increased to 100 KM.

No, it remains 100km. What's eliminated is the timer-to-timer link's maximum length, which is 40km for ETRs. This means there is no requirement for a "timer hut" at up to 40km from one of the sites for a second ETR when the site to site distance is greater than 40km.

What are the shops doing know when this limit is reached?. Are they
trapped in this restriction?.

How we can keep a Parallel Sysplex separated by distances greater to 100
KM (to use the new limit) without implementing GDPS?. AFAIK, GDPS
automates the take over but you still will experiment outages.

Why?

Does anybody know why this new limit?. It it something internal to System
Z9?

Timing signals will flow over coupling links. The maximum supported distance for a coupling link is 100km.
