As I recall, the limit of 30 for QSAM has to do with the number if IDALs that fit in the single 4K page, and as the block size of the file increased, the size of the IDALs also increase; I think with 32K blocksize, only 18 IDALs fit in a 4K page. I doubt I can find the source of my recollection, though.
