He's got three pairs of systems... ring is less than wonderful for that and
ring disruption of his production sysplex for a test system IPL would be
far less than wonderful.  (Been there, done that.)

I won't recommend a 6-way ring to protect a single sysres.  It is a tiny
amount of DASD to create a couple of additional IPL volumes... why impact
his users' world for that??

Also, the single-sysres idea is not so good for the reasons mentioned in my
subsequent post.  He ought to match his sysres to his sysplex's stated
purpose for quality reasons.
