We have opted for FLASHCOPY II on a shark. Different applications needed
different point in time copies. With our big VSAM files spread over several
packs it made sense to copy at the dataset level. We take all files in an
application and flash them then back them up. The application is back up in
less than 1 minute. We used snapshot the same way when we were on RVA's.
We also use it for point in time reporting but that is a long story. It
saved hours in our batch process.

Subject: FLASHCOPY

We are z/OS V1R4. We are trying to justify the purchase of FLASHCOPY.
What are the benefits of FLASHCOPY? How much time has FLASHCOPY saved ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You
