I would be curious to know what your configuration looks like:
o Double-click on the "Session A" icon at the bottom of the HMC.
o Click on "Communication -> Configure ..."
What is selected for interface, attachment and host? (Dark blue colors
denote selection.)
o Click "Configure". This should bring up the Session Parameters screen.
o On the Session Parameters screen, click "Configure Link".
What appears there?
If you have this configured as other than TN3270 (e.g., coax), some of
the prompts may differ.
Sorry. The above is nonsense. I never should have posted it. The
configuration for the Integrated 3270 Console cannot be surfaced to the
HMC operator. I was confusing the 3270 Sessions -- which are configured
under "Console Actions" -- with the Integrated 3270 Console, which
appears under "CPC Recovery" and cannot be configured.
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/zoslib/pdf/c2868301.pdf describes the HMC
for the z800. Page 3-19 in the book (101 of 234 in the PDF) describes
the Integrated 3270 Console. It describes it as being supported by z/VM
4.4 and higher. Indeed, when I drag the Integrated 3270 Console icon to
my z/VM 4.4 LPAR, it immediately pops up a z/VM console. When I drag it
to any of my z/OS 1.6 LPARs, it hangs "dead".
