Hello Carl, Obvious maybe, your post says the file is opened by Program 2 as OUTPUT.
Are you absolutely sure that Program2 opens the file as INPUT? Alternatively, does the file contain any data? Has it been initialised? please note I am not certain if the AIX causes any SHARE problems.
