For each dataset on ML2 tape, there is supposed to be a copy on DFHSM backup tape. You'll have to identify each "lost" dataset and recover them from DFHSM backup tape, one at a time.
And if you haven't turned on duplexing for ML2 tapes yet and begun to create copies of all your ML2 tapes ... the next disaster is just waiting to happen. Murphy's watching ...
