I am not aware of any implementation of the Java runtime on z/OS that does
not require UNIX System Services and zFS (preferred) or HFS. For that
matter, I am not aware of any implementation of the Java runtime on z/OS
that does not require plenty of other z/OS functions and components.

Is that a problem? Or, more precisely, is that a *bigger* problem than
alternatives?
