The OP said his error message was IEC334I. I read the description and recommended action, and it looks to me as if he has two or more devices, regardless of their device numbers, that have the same CCA and DDC rather than a duplicate SSID. Here is the operative sentence: "The identified Subsystem already has a device configured with the same Channel Connection Address (CCA) and Director-to-Device Connection address (DDC)." [MVS System Messages Volume 7 (IEB-IEE); SA22-7637-15] At any rate, there is something defined incorrectly in his configuration.

We got this because two of our disk suppliers used different naming standards, and we hadn't been checking close enough. 2. you have miscabled some connections to multiple frames.
