As I said I talked to IBMers. Sysplex specialists with deep knowledge
and experience. I don't repeat their answers word by word, but the
meaning was obvious for me.
As I said, there's nothing wrong in such usage, but it could yield unusual
issues.
Name one!
Security Server. Multiple RACF db's or even RACF+other SS (ACF2,
TopSecret) provides many interesting issues which I would prefer to
avoid. Separation of systems for logon (User X can logon on member A,
but not member B) is another example. All those issues does not exist in
"canonical" form of sysplex.
Q1: Why did you merge the systems? What was a goal? To have lower fees? That
would mean priceplex. If the systems remained to be independent then
technically it would be reasonable to have two independent sysplexes.
They were split because of Virtual Storage constraint problems, as I stated.
I missed that. The rest is result of my misunderstanding.
BTW: If the split would been available before you had to split, then you
simply would expand single system into sysplex. Exactly what I described
as intended way.
(probably I messed the tenses, forgive me)
It is only reasonable to have multiple SYSPLEX's if you want to spend extra
money on CF's and external timers
Or provide service for different entities.
