Barry,

Yes that's the correct 'ACTIVE' dataset. Here's the output from the
display command:

RESPONSE=PBSB
 IGD002I 14:41:15 DISPLAY SMS 718
 SCDS = SYS1.DFSMS.SCDS
 ACDS = SYS1.DFSMS.ACDS
 COMMDS = SYS1.DFSMS.COMMDS
 DINTERVAL = 150
 REVERIFY = NO
 ACSDEFAULTS = NO
     SYSTEM     CONFIGURATION LEVEL    INTERVAL SECONDS
     PBQA       ---------- --------          N/A
     PBSB       2009/08/18 14:41:04           15

Stop everything... According to the STC, the missing volumes are being
backed up...I need to take a look at the routine that told me that it
wasn't being backed up. And see if there's an error.

My apologies to the list for this false alarm...

Thanks,
George Rodriguez

Subject: Re: DFSMShsm Full Volume Dumps

Does SYS1.DFSMS.SCDS reflect the status of the active ACDS? To insure
getting the correct active data, use the DSN 'ACTIVE'.

Is the volume in question in this storage group? Has the volume been
"converted" to SMS? ISMF and the "D SMS" operator command both have
options to display the volumes.

When do the various dump classes execute? What values have been
assigned to the DUMPCYCLE and DUMPSTART operands?

"It's not working" is not specific enough for a diagnosis. Does dump
processing start? Does HSM generate any diagnostics? Do any of the
volumes in the storage group get dumped? Is there any data on this
volume?

Subject: DFSMShsm Full Volume Dumps

I'm new to HSM, so I don't know everything there is to know, but I've
got a real big problem and I need to fix it, hopefully by tonight (I've
got storms coming in). When I add a new volume to a storage group (I
know how to do that), is there something special that I've got to do to
make that volume eligible to a backup? When I look at the storage group
using ISMF, and I issue the alter command on the "Line Operators" field
it shows the following info:

SCDS Name . . . . . : SYS1.DFSMS.SCDS

Storage Group Name  : PRDEXTAD

To ALTER Storage Group, Specify:

 Description ==> PRODUCTION EXTENDED ADDRESSING (GREATER THAN 4GB)
STORAGE
             ==> GROUP

 Auto Migrate . . N  (Y, N, I or P)   Migrate Sys/Sys Group Name . .
 Auto Backup  . . Y  (Y or N)         Backup Sys/Sys Group Name  . .
 Auto Dump  . . . Y  (Y or N)         Dump Sys/Sys Group Name  . . .
 Overflow . . . . N  (Y or N)         Extend SG Name . . . . . . . .
                                      Copy Pool Backup SG Name . . .
 Dump Class . . . WEEK01              (1 to 8 characters)
 Dump Class . . . WEEK02              Dump Class . . . WEEK03
 Dump Class . . . MONTHLY             Dump Class . . .

 Allocation/migration Threshold: High . . 85  (1-99)      Low  . .
(0-99)

 Guaranteed Backup Frequency  . . . . . . 1         (1 to 9999 or
NOLIMIT)

 ALTER     SMS Storage Group Status . . . N   (Y or N)

Use ENTER to Perform Verification and Selection;

Use HELP Command for Help; Use END Command to Save and Exit; CANCEL to
Exit.

I thought that by having the Dump Class fields filled in, that would do
it. But no it's not working.
