For anyone else who might be looking to try this, I have now resolved my problems. I seem to have got round many issues by setting directory mode attributes, but there are two ways where the behaviour after PTF UK47562 has changed to be significant for our installation.
- The default for LOGDIR was /usr/lpp/booksrv/cgi-bin (and is documented as such in the program directory) but it actually uses /usr/lpp/booksrv. - The catalog rebuild process expects to find the index files (.bki) in the /shelves directories. Previously it was happy to have the indexes in the /books directory (as shown in some examples). Other minor differences include that the storage requirement for the rebuild catalog job has increased significantly, but that was hardly unexpected and at least resulted in meaningful error messages. And I didn't need any LIBPATH, ICU_DATA or PATH environment variables.
