Charles : I see in other messages that you've resolved your problem 
but I also spotted the following in my Ws_ftp_LE v5.08 Help for 
Filter Mask :

"Note to those familiar with FTP command line clients: You can use 
any argument string you would use with a "Dir" command in a command 
line FTP client."

   - an' shur'nuff, when I entered a mask other than '*' ie. 'e*', 
all my directories disappeared since DIR is not equal LS.  
(Communication Server for z/OS v1.9 User Guide)  

ps.  I use two profiles in Ws_ftp_LE - z/OS (IBM MVS)  and z/Unix 
(Unix Standard).
