The Radio Shack TRS-80 was Upper Case only as delivered; I remember opening the case and mounting a switch on the bottom (from Radio Shack, of course) and soldering it so that the editor recognized lower case, so my 1980 book, written on that machine, had mixed case.
Of course, the OS didn't support the switch, and produced garbage from key strokes if the switch was in the mixed case position. MXG was ALWAYS upper case only, until the nix's came into being, forcing some members to be case-dependent, which I abhor, but now must live with. FOO, foo fOO and Foo to whomever made that unwise choice.
