The only problem with leaving it on ML1 is the CPU used to do the
compression. Tape compression is in the hardware. ML1 compression is in
the software. If you save CPU and don't compress, what is the sense of
migrating it in the first place? You might as well leave it on ML0.

Many people now are saying that DASD is so cheap that even using HSM to
migrate to ML2 is counter productive. Just leave it on ML1 and make ML1
very, very large. Or don't even migrate stuff at all.
