Reza, I can think of a KSDS that was being accessed by LSR, but every CI was touched until it was loaded into the LSR pool. Over 150 programs touched that 200 CYL baby in the same 60 minutes. Compression reduced the size by 55% reduced the IO by 55% as well.
In terms of IO savings it was the same as compressing a 30,000 (150x200) CYL file that is read once. My point: there is more to compression than just the size of the dataset.
