That is why my client uses the exit and I have used it at other clients. YMMV - especially depending on the number of systems and if the communications type is DASD or CTC and if the CTCs are ESCON or FICON. In one client of mine who didn't want to use the exit (because they were more concerned about integrity instead of fuzzy backups) we dynamically changed MIM to convert those reserves to global ENQs only for the weekend full volume backups.
