Hello experts here,
Found a blog trying to comparing UNIX technology with mainframe, please comment:
http://www.c0t0d0s0.org/archives/6775-Whats-so-special-about-the-Parallel-Sysplex.html
And answered questions asked by author:
What's so special with parallel sysplex?
---------------------------------<unsnip>---------------------------------------
We could probably spend months discussing that, Victor. Parallel
processing, commonality of things
like security and catalog maintenance, data sharing, etc.
Much could probably be done via TCP/IP connections, but the collision
rates would be frightening and
because of that, throughput would probably suffer.
Not to mention automatic switching to another CEC in case of a failure,
enterprise-wide storage and
performance management. And the list goes on and on........
I suggest you dive into the parallel sysplex documentation available on
the IBM Web sites, including the
Red Books. You're in for some eye-opening, which you can share with that
other source you quote.
