Assuming you have no firewall issues... Finding a 3270 emulator for Android will be the biggest problem. I've been looking for one since I got an Android based phone without luck. The form factor will be the next hurdle to get past. Granted, you won't be doing heads down data entry, but it is certainly not something you want to be doing long term work with either.
There is a OpenVPN client for Android, but sadly it requires rooting the device. An implementation of VNC is also available. An SSH client is available which I've used, it is quite nice.
