I can't speak for "most shops", but we IPL the "sandbox" from the SMP/E target volumes after a maintenance APPLY or z/OS upgrade. After a suitable time to verify everything, THEN we "clone" the target volumes to the other LPARs' respective "alternate" RES sets and IPL from those "alternates" in turn; then "clone" the SMP/E target volumes to the sandbox "primary" set and IPL the sandbox from "primary". Now we're ready for the next "cycle". -jc- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
