"I am told that intrusion reporting has been mandated by law for several years."
Of the specifics or just the result? I would think that if there had been a successful crack due to software limitations (i.e. bug) we would have seen a fix via "Red Alert". A successful crack via a configuration lapse (incorrect/incomplete setup etc.) is another thing and IIRC there is/were RedBooks/White Papers/SHARE sessions and the ever popular consulting firms that may address/specify the most likely issues. -----Original Message----- Hal Merritt If you mean gaining access to sensitive MF data, then yes there have been several reports. The successful attack vectors were (trusted?) Windows servers. If you mean gaining access directly, then I personally have not seen any credible reports. I am told that intrusion reporting has been mandated by law for several years. -----Original Message----- Joe Mc I'm getting into a rather heated argument with a non mainframe colleague about whether the mainframe has been hacked or not. Legitimate hacking, not a disgruntled employee doing something illegal and not loss of tapes or other media. I'm talking the mainframe platform. Thoughts? M.
