----------------------------------------------<snip>------------------------------ The fix also fixes some bugs processing non standard CCWS including search key CCWS and SHARK CCWS and many more. -------------------------------------------<unsnip>----------------------------------- "Search Key" CCWs are NOT a "nonstandard CCW"; they've been in use since OS/360 first "hit the street" and are still an important part of z/OS processing, especially for BPAM processing. A standard PDS directory is located using a "Search Key High or Equal" CCW. While BDAM is officially Class-C (AFAIK), it's still in common use, especially among some OEM DBMS systems. A LONG time ago we had a consulting company come in and a a major major CICS/DB system for us. They gave us fits. One of their features was to change BDAM (via ZAP) to do only a search key equal (I could be off on this its been 30+ years). The damn thing worked as advertised. We tried to fight the zap but loss. This was before SMP/e so it was a hand performed. The problem was (as is always the case) that IBM stopped suppliying source/fiche and it caused no end of grief as a result. We kept suggesting that they change over to VSAM but the door was slammed shut in our face a few times. We had to maintain the zap for a long time, finally they got to the point of asking us about the VSAM option. We did a fairly good review and found out that VSAM had an issue with (IIRC over 64 volumes) we were right on the edge and we suggested that they rethink the design. I have heard through the grape vine (I had left) it took them about 10 years to convert over to VSAM. I was happy to be out of the situation (for several reasons).
