We have IBM 9034 Escon to parallel converters along with IBM 3745-170. We were told that since we are running EP Only we had to be very careful to get a HIGH serial number since we were using a byte channel.
Here is a quote from a hardware vendor we like to talk to: ( I don't know if I can use his name without permission, contact me off list if you want it.) "IBM's 9034-001's are distinguished by low and high serial number units. The high serial numbers start at 53345. These are what IBM recommends for the new IBM Z-processor line. The high serial number units can support both byte and block channels. The low serial number units support only block channels." < end-quote > Steven Southerland Ceridian Atlanta, GA (678) 441-2096 - Desk (404) 290-3788 - Cell "All these words and I still said nothing", me, 2004,2005 ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Nov 2005 23:54:20 -0600 From: Bruce Hewson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: 3745 , Does anybody remember? Hello Ali, I have 3745s connected via both IBM and Optica converters. I do remember the IBM CE saying that the channel interface on the 3745 box had to be at the correct microcode level to support converter usage.
