Lizette, The dataset is backed up and the attempted restored is on the same system. We are running z/OS 01.11.00. From what the Production team is telling me that the ABARS was successfully run on January 07. To see what dsns are on that ABARS backup tape I ran a DFDSS RESTORE with a NORUN. The dataset is not there. I am not an expert on ABARS, so I am not sure the reason why. The dataset in question is on a damaged 3490 tape and if my understanding of ABARS is correct this dataset is to be backed up on the application backup tape along with the rest of the application datasets. The scratching of the head continues.

There are a couple of APARs but they are old from IBM. Have you googled the error message and see if anything might apply?
