"McKown, John" mentioned on 8 April, a DOS message "JOB TERMINATED DUE TO
PROGRAM REQUEST".  I think a far more mysterious message we received was (the
sands of time prevent me from giving a correct, literal rendering of the
messaage) "UNIT xxx - INVALID ERROR". After a lot of head-scratching, an
operator mentioned seeing a pool of hydraulic fluid on the floor behind the
2319
containing the unit xxx mentioned. IBM
CE repaired the unit. His explanation of the message was that the device was so
fouled up that it was returning sense data which was invalid for the device
type, and DOS could not make sense of it.
