I was once (20 odd years ago) involved in moving a datacenter from one city
to another. 9 months+ of planning...

We took backup on tape cartridges of everything, moved the cartridges and
the physical DASD boxes by (separate) truck. But we had a new CEC with
some new DASD already up & running on the new location; ready to be
connected to the moved DASD.

The really big challenge was to get the (pan-European) network updated so
that trafic went to the new datacenter at the right time... Not obvious in
those X25 days... Especially not because most communication lines were cross-
border and virtually every telecom operator in Europe was involved. Dit I
mention this took a loooooong planning period?

Cheers,

Jantje.
