Hi Mary, I did this years ago using MOM as SNMP server in windows platform - don't know MOM part in detail nor I tried CA auotmation point but in general for each SNMP server, you need to load MIB files of necessary HW to SNMP Server.You might have already checked this but it is better to mention it,because most problems I have seen during SNMP management of devices like CPCs,DS8K HMCs and FICON Directors etc can occur because of issues in MIB files. For CPCs they are located in D:TOOLKIT directory of HMC.(This is written in API guide of related CPC model in IBM resourcelink website).There are two files hwmcav1.mib and hwmcav2.mib..
You can set up SMTP as well in order to understand whether you have at least network definitions correct or not. It is much straight forward than SNMP.
