As IBM has announced that the z196/z114 will be the last generation of processors that support ESCON channels, how do I get my GRS ring environment to use FICON?
The documentation states that GRS Rings have to use ESCON and the documentation states that if I have LPARs not in a sysplex that share the GRS environment, they have to use a Ring. I have a production sysplex with several LPARs in it. I have seperate test and sandbox LPARs that share the GRS environment with production for dataset allocations, to include RMM and HSM. I do not have a couplling facility. I use dasd-based XCF for the production sysplex components. Anyone have any ideas? Or am I missing something else?
