Two encryption questions: I'm playing with an IDCAMs encipher job as part of my getting familiar with encryption on the mainframe. I've found nothing, however, that will tell me if its actually using the coprocessor to do the encryption. Any way I can easily tell what kind of work the coprocessor is doing?
One way I know it -might- be using it is that I initially did not have COMPAT(YES) specified in my ICSF parms, which generated an error. Once changed to YES, it runs fine. Also, everything I've read so far indicates that my only algorithm option is single DES. I'm running a 2064-102 with what looks like two coprocessors defined. The up to date encryption literature I read, which focuses on the 990 and z9 processor and the express cards, seems to have all the current algorithms available. Is there some way to make those available on the older processors, or I'm I stuck looking at a hardware upgrade? Thanks. I'm finding my entry in the crypto world a hard study, so very much appreciate all the recent discussions here.e Jeffrey Deaver, Senior Analyst, Systems Engineering 651-665-4231 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
