I read this as meaning he wants a batch job to send a message to the console and receive a response from the operator. So WTOR would seem appropriate (as would DISPLAY UPON CONSOLE followed by ACCEPT FROM CONSOLE, as someone else mentioned). BUT, reading the other fragments of his message, his intent could also be to allow the console operator to explain why a JOB was cancelled. He COULD be thinking that I will add a COND=EVEN jobstep to ask the operator "WHY DID YOU CANCEL THIS JOB???" and permit the operator to explain "BECAUSE IT WAS TAKING TOO LONG!!!". Of course, COND=EVEN won't trap a Sx22 ABEND, so if this is what he is hoping to do, he is out of luck.
