NO. THE LIMIT IS 255.
However...
a) you can live with rolled off generations. You will see all the
generations you created (up to 9999) and max. 255 of them can be
referenced as relative - that means HLQ.GDGNAME(-200) vs
HLQ.GDGNAME.G0200V00.
b) (I think nobody mentioned it!). You can use your batch scheduler
facilities. Mostsuch products do offer an alternative to old stinking
GDG. For example, in ControlM you can use HLQ.SOMENAME.D%%ODATE - which
could mean HLQ.SOMENAME.D120510.
