We separate the SMF data into multiple LOGSTREAMs. Then dump each LOGSTREAM to it's own dataset
We use the Virtual Tape Subsystem to "clone" (duplex) the datasets, then push the data out to real tapes as soon as possible Then we produce a bill for the cost of supporting this process. People requesting these items always seem to be surprised at the cost of actually doing this.
