XL means 'eXtra Loot'.

'Loot' is US slang for money.

So, XL = Higher price.

I am joking, but renaming or rebranding is usually a sales/marketing
ploy. Very rarely of technical interest except as an administrative
headache.

HTH.

Subject: What does "XL" of "XL C/C++" mean?

Hi all,

As of z/OS V1R7, the z/OS C/C++ compiler has been rebranded to z/OS XL
C/C++. What does "XL" of "XL C/C++" mean?

Thank you for your time!

Best Regards,
Xie, Bo
