When we IPL the 9672, The Attachmate Window remains open but shows "disconnect." This is what I would expect for the ICC also. I didn't expect it to completely close the Windows' Attachmate program. I had to actually restart the Windows' program not just re-connect.

When I was testing my new z/890 with ICC, the console session does not close for IPL. It will go back to the initial state like when you first connect to a 2074. It tells you the unit address etc. When I place the z/890 into production, I needed that OSA card for normal network stuff (technical term). A POR will reset the interface and thus loose your connection. Why wouldn't your scenario 1 and 2 close your sessions. When you IPL, I assume that VTAM and TCP/IP was drop. You will not have a listener on port 23.
