Skip/Bruce, Many years ago now, I adopted the policy of using <> rather than ¬= in order to ensure that the ¬ character was not lost when printing my clists. After all there's nothing more irritating that seeing "=" and having to check for a double-space in order to appreciate that it's really ¬=.
The point is that the character that JES2, in this case, wants to "see" is the "not sign" (¬) and not the "cap"(^), as I believe it's called, character. The "not sign" is correctly presented before me right now and I hope will be preserved as it gets into the newsgroup and propagated on to you. It was, in fact, not so easy to get this character into this post since I had to use a little free utility which required the use of the Ctrl-, combination. The free utility is "AllChars for Windows" by Jeroen Laarhoven - although I appreciate this is no help for use with JES2 :-) Chris Mason ----- Original Message ----- From: "Skip Robinson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Newsgroups: bit.listserv.ibm-main To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, 07 February, 2006 5:33 AM Subject: Re: JES2 $DPRT,STATUS,/STATUS^=DRAINED > Following the instructions in 5.1.1.2 (z/OS 1.7), using <> works for > me, while ^= gets the same response you did. > > . > . > JO.Skip Robinson > Southern California Edison Company > SHARE MVS Program Co-Manager > 626-302-7535 Office > 323-715-0595 Mobile > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > IBM Mainframe Discussion List <[email protected]> wrote on 02/06/2006 > 06:27:40 PM: > > > Hi Folks, > > > > Trying to setup command to display all non-drained printers. > > > > So I reviewed the manual and built this command:- > > > > $DPRT,STATUS,/STATUS^=DRAINED > > > > where the "^" is shift-6, which looks like the character used in the JES2 > > Command manual. > > > > Depending on who is translating the comand (SNA Console or SDSF) I get > > different incorrect results. > > > > eg: > > Console:- > > $dprt,status,/status =drained > > IEE707I $DPRT,ST NOT EXECUTED > > > > SDSF:- > > $DPRT,STATUS,/STATUS =DRAINED > > $HASP603 PRT7 STATUS=DRAINED > > $HASP603 PRT8 STATUS=DRAINED > > $HASP603 PRT9 STATUS=DRAINED > > $HASP603 PRT10 STATUS=DRAINED > > $HASP603 PRT11 STATUS=DRAINED > > $HASP603 PRT12 STATUS=DRAINED > > $HASP603 PRT15 STATUS=DRAINED > > $HASP603 PRT60 STATUS=DRAINED > > > > Has anyone come across this before.
