Yes, System Determined Blocksize is definitely the way to go.

Nota bene: you should test compression in your environment first to see
if it buys you anything.  Different installations will get different
results.  It didn't help us.

I like striping for large sequential datasets (FSVO "large").  It has
*substantially* reduced runtimes for some of our jobs.  Note that having
multivolume datasets does complicate dataset recovery.
