Why? What value does this add? What risks are averted? Why use such an
option when it is so easy to negate? I'm positive any malware would be
sure to include keep alive packets. 

Firewalls are for PC's. By and large, the MF can protect itself.

Hi,

The differents segments of our n/w are separated by firewalls. These
fw's
are setup in such a way that they disrupt open connections, which have
not
been in use for a certain interval.
