Just wanted to follow up on the post about partial HSM copy tapes and off- site movement. One way this has been addressed is to use different JOBNAMEs. Assume HSM is the jobname for hsm. VRSs are setup for off-site movement using JOBNAME(HSMOFF) as an example, and for onsite tape retention using JOBNAME(HSM). When HSM issues the ARCxxxx message that a copy tape is full, automation intercepts that and uses RMM commands to change the job name for the data set on that volume to HSMOFF. So, the off-site movement kicks in.
I believe that there may also be a need to break the multi-volume chaining using RMM CV volser NOPREVVOL - but that may depend on RETAINBY and MOVEBY options you have set up.
