Name one OS that does not allow you to display the contents of a file to your 
screen, and also is a productive OS.

'Catenate' is not in common usage!
I actually had to look it up.
I did not realise that 'catenate' and 'concatenate' were synonyms.

But, my point is that 'cat' is not intuitive.
At least with PC/DOS 'type' is understandable.

LIST was intended as a generic discription.
Not as something for pedants to quibble over.
