My bottom line: too <bleep> expensive! If I'm reading that page correctly, it is $5,500 per year, per user. If you want a "floating license"(?) it is $9,900 per year per "floating" user. I think the difference is that the first is a license assigned to a specific user (like Joe Programmer) which cannot be used by Alice Analyst. The second is a license which can be used by either Joe or Susan, but not at the same time. I, personally, hate "floating" licenses. Where I've worked, people tend to "fight" over them. And management tends to view them as "nice" because they "reduce cost". IOW if you have 10 programmers, only buy (for instance) 3 floating licenses (29,700 vs 55,000 per year) because a programmer won't be using a license 100% of the time. This may work if you have programmers spread over multiple shifts (or timezones). For a smaller business, at a single location where everybody works "first shift" (like where I work), this stinks (IMO). -- John McKown Senior Systems Programmer HealthMarkets Keeping the Promise of Affordable Coverage Administrative Services Group Information Technology This message (including any attachments) contains confidential information intended for a specific individual and purpose, and its content is protected by law.
