Actually - no. Those who use and try to manage it daily will tell you it's one great chimera - those distributed databases are almost always utterly out of sychronisation - do the same search twice and you'll quite likely get different results. Most Joe Publics don't question Google's results - it comes from a computer, it must be right. Check out on Usenet, if you fancy, the expression "Google dance".
